First you travel across and stop at the Hoover Dam overlook, which gives you a chance to marvel at one of the modern wonders of the mechanical world.
From there, you travel into Kingman, Arizona and Historic Route 66. You could stop off in Seligman and see Angel Delgideo, the angel who rescued the famous highway from oblivion.
Onward you travel to Williams, Arizona. This tiny little hamlet is the starting and stopping point for the Grand Canyon Railroad. Main Street Williams IS Route 66.
From there you travel into the town of Tusayan, Arizona. Home to the Grand Canyon IMAX Theater, and the most watched IMAX movie in the world… The Grand Canyon Discovery and Adventure. From there you travel o the park entrance.
The first stop inside the park is usually Mather Point. Named after the man who can be accredited for creating the modern day park system. Here you will find parking, a bookstore, restrooms and a shuttle stop. A short walk and you are there. Looking into the canyon
The beauty of the park and the canyon is that you can’t really see the canyon until you walk up to it. Than it hits you… It’s almost a spiritual event to look into the canyon and across the open chasm for the first time.

From there you could go to Yavapai Observation Station or onto the Grand Canyon Village. Home to Bright Angel Lodge, El Tovar Hotel, Hopi House and several other historical landmarks and overlooks.
Inside the Bright Angel Lodge is the Bright Angel Museum. Where you can see artifacts from the early days of the lodge and the park. Including the Harvey Girl, Fred Harvey and his architect Mary Jane Colter.
