Red Rock Canyon

Red Rock Canyon National Conservation Area
is a short distance off the strip, but what a difference a few miles can make!!

This tour takes you away from the bright lights and the noise of the casinos to the bright colors of the sandstone cliffs, calico mountains and the natural beauty of one of the Mohave Deserts most popular attractions.

Red Rock is known for its variety of colors, landscapes and unique rock formations.  The 13 mile loop will offer you some striking overlooks and plenty of photo opportunities.  You will never believe you are just a few miles from the big city.

The slight change in elevation, the turn of a corner and new horizons greet you as the landscape changes with the rock formations.  You stop to see the limestone roasting pits used by ancient Indian tribes who left the petroglyphs on the canyon walls. Maybe even see a wild burro or big horn sheep grazing in the mountains around you.

Not only are you seeing some of natures wonders, tracing the path of the early Indian tribes, but also the early explorers.  The Mormon Trail and Spanish Trail runs right through the park.  Some of the wagons tracks are still visible through out the park.

As your informative guide leads you around the park, you start to sense that you have been here before.  Not to worry, its just your mind flashing back to a recorded memory.  These hills, barren rock formations and curves are often used as backdrops for magazine ads and car commercials. Locals just call it “Red Rock” and know it as a great place to spend a day.  Take the tour and you will understand why.

My Recommendation: Take the morning 6 hour tour… It is the BEST way to experience Red Rock and all that it has to offer.  Included in this tour is a visit to neighboring Spring Mountain Park.  Once owned by reclusive millionaire, Howard Hughes!
